Peer Tutor classes

In this class, you become one of the teachers. We will train you and then you will work directly with a student. Not only will you receive a grade partially based on your regular attendance, but you will also be required to complete a few homework assignments each term. These assignments are meant to increase your knowledge and understanding and a variety of disabilities and what it is like to live with a disability.

In research, peer tutoring is important for two reasons. One, it integrates the special education students. This happens when you spend time with them in class and outside of class. They become more a part of Davis High School. Secondly, this experience hopefully makes you more aware and comfortable around people with disabilities. In the workplace and socially, I hope you encounter people with disabilities. And after having this class, I hope you will not shy away from them but welcome them into your life.

Concurrent Enrollment Peer Tutor classes

Concurrent Enrollment Peer Tutor is a 2 credit course offered through Utah State University. Concurrent Enrollment Peer Tutors will be working directly with students with disabilities just like the regular peer tutors but they will have additional reading requirements as well as additional written and social projects. This course is an excellent start to careers in special education, regular education, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech and language pathology, and many others.
