What We’re Learning This Week

This week we will be starting The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.  Students will be reading most of this  book at home as their homework the next few weeks.  They also need to fill out the comprehension packet for each chapter.  We will be watching the movie as our holiday party, and students need to have the packet finished and turned in to watch the movie in December.

We will also be reading and writing poetry this week.

In math this week we will be taking our Unit 3 Test on unit rates and percentages.  Students will bring home a review for homework Monday night and the test will be on Tuesday.  Then we will start a unit on dividing fractions.

This week in science we'll do some experiments about heat energy and matter.

And in social studies, we will continue our study of Ancient China.  This week we will focus on the Great Wall of China (from ancient times--not the beautiful one built by the Ming Dynasty).  We will be completing a DBQ (Document-Based Question) about whether the Great Wall was worth the cost.  

Remember next week in Thanksgiving Break.  We will only have school on Monday and Tuesday.
