Class Expectations
Mrs. Hall's Class Expectations
Class Rules and Behavior Expectations
We have 3 simple rules in our classroom:
Be Responsible
Be Respectful
Be Ready
I expect students to be responsible for their own behavior and belongings, be respectful towards their classmates and their teacher, and be ready to learn and have fun!
I encourage positive behavior through a variety of individual and class rewards. Negative consequences include loss of privileges and contact with parents when appropriate.
Homework Expectations
The district guidelines state that sixth graders should have approximately 60 minutes of homework each night.
Students will generally have two assignments in addition to reading for 20 minutes each night. The assignments will usually be practicing the math concept learned that day in class and a language arts assignment such as vocabulary, writing, or reading. Students will also have a monthly book report. This is a simple one-page form they fill out and sign that the book was read during the month. If students are reading for 20 minutes a night (100 minutes a week), they should easily be able to finish a book each month. Turning in the book report will serve as a monthly reading tracker.
Students should write their homework down each day in their homework planner. Please check periodically to make certain your student is recording their homework. This is a great habit for success in junior high.
Students who have turned in all their homework assignments will have the opportunity to play Homeworkopoly on Fridays. Homeworkopoly will give them the opportunity to earn small prizes, treats, and homework passes.
Absences
Students who are absent will have a reasonable time to make up missed work. I will be happy to send home a packet of work when a student is absent. Just call and leave me a message letting me know who will be picking up the work at the end of the day. When students will be absent because of a planned vacation, I will collect their work while they are gone and have it ready for them when they return.
Monday Packets
Every Monday students will bring home a packet that will include graded assignments from the previous week and a printout of any missing assignments. I also send this list in an email Mondays after school. Please review this packet with your student each Monday. Any missing assignments are due by the following Friday. After Friday, students will receive a 0 on the assignment.
