Review Safety Contract

As stated in the Safety Module Introduction, safety in my number one concern. You also need to arrange for a competent adult to supervise as you work on your project. For this assignment you will make a short video of you and your parent/guardian reviewing the Safety Contract. 

Instructions:

Make a video reading the following contract with your parent/guardian. You can alternate reading (parent reads, student reads) or you can read the whole thing and the parent can just read their part. The important thing is that you and your parent/guardian are aware of the expectations. You are welcome to record this on your phone and upload it. You can also record it directly in Canvas. Do whatever is easiest for you!

READ AND AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING ON VIDEO:

My name is (state your first and last name). This is my parent (or guardian) and their name is (state their first and last name).

1. I will NOT use any woodworking tools, especially power tools without adult supervision.
2. If I do not have an adult supervision, I will make arrangements with Mr. Hansen to work with him at the high school on my project. This can be done on an off days (like a Friday) so I do not have to worry about coming in contact with other students during the pandemic.
3. I will wear safety protection (safety glasses and ear plugs) whenever I work with any woodworking tools. If I don't have safety glasses or ear plugs, I will contact Mr. Hansen and he will get them for me.
4. I understand that I am not required to use any power tools on my project. In fact, Mr. Hansen recommends that I use only hand tools to complete my project.
5. I understand that my grade will NOT be dependent on how hard my project is and that I am okay to build a very simple and safe project.
6. If I choose to use ANY power tools, I will NOT do so without an adult there to help supervise me. I will also make sure that I understand and will follow all safety precautions and rules of each tool. I also understand that Mr. Hansen will work with me at the high school if I want to learn how to use any power tools.
7. Even though I may not use any power tools, I will complete safety trainings on all the tools so that I understand how to safely use the tools if I choose to continue to do woodworking in the future.
8. If I am uncomfortable using any tools, or I cannot get an adult to supervise me, I have the option to request alternate assignments instead of making a project.

(Parent reads) I understand this Safety Contract for Mr. Hansen's online woodworking class and agree to all the terms. If I have any questions or concerns, I will contact Mr. Hansen directly. I understand what my student will be making a woodworking project and that I need to supervise them. If I cannot supervise them, I will either make arrangements for my child to work with Mr. Hansen or we will ask for a safe, alternative project.
