Our school and my classroom promotes the PBIS philosophy at Bountiful Elementary.  PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Support.  It is a management system that is focused on teaching and reteaching positive and appropriate behavior to students. Our schools' behavioral expectations are PAWS:

Practice Kindness

Act Responsibly

Work and Play Safely

Show Respect

Paws-itive Points: Students can earn these points for their classrooms. Points are earned at prep, from other faculty/staff, and me. These class points will be used to earn class activities throughout the year.

Bobcat's 200: This is new to the school!! Students will earn PAWS Tickets from any adult in the school. These PAWS are earned by following the 4 school rules listed above. At the end of each week, a student from each class will be chosen to enter their name in a type of drawing. More specific information on this will be coming soon!

I have provided most of the supplies that students will need in the classroom: binder, notebooks, homework folder, planner, whiteboard, pencil case, writing utensils, and crayons. These supplies are to be used for school and NOT for personal use. You will be seeing your child's homework folder and planner coming home each day. Everything else will need to stay in the classroom until the end of the year.

Please send your child with:

**Refillable water bottle-We are in a portable, and it can get pretty warm out here at times. I can't let students leave every time they are thirsty to get a drink, so having a water bottle in class is very, VERY important. I will not have water bottles to provide to students.

**Mouse for laptops (optional)-I am very limited on mice for students. I do have some, but not enough for everyone. If your child prefers having a mouse, please send one with them.

**Headphones-I also have some headphones, but again, not enough for everyone. Headphones are not always necessary, but we have some programs where they are needed. Please send headphones with your child.

If there are any other items (within reason) your child would like to have at school, it is fine for them to bring them. Please do not let your child come to school with toys. This includes: slime, putty, pop-its, stuffed animals, your typical toys, fidget toys etc. These will be taken and sent home at the end of the day. If your child needs something physically to manipulate, I have something for them.

As for the classroom, I could always use:

Clorox Wipes

Tissues

Hand Sanitizer

Pencils

Loose leaf paper

Individually wrapped small candy (used for special occasions)

**Parents, we are asking that you donate $25, if you can, to our grade. This will help us be able to go on our BizTown field trip AND any other activities for our students this year. You can donate by clicking on the following link. Thank you!!

I understand that some of my students have phones and/or watches. That is fine, but they need to be turned off and put away. If students need to get ahold of you, they need to get permission to call from the school phone.

Students are welcome to keep their phone and/or watch in their backpack if they would like to have it at school. I won't be allowing students to wear any watch that can call or text.

Class DOJO is an app I use to reinforce individual students' work ethic and behavior. Students earn points for various things (reading homework, planner signed, jobs, helping others, being prepared, having no missing work, etc.) and they can lose points for various things (not being prepared, continuous disruptions, needing papers reprinted, not having their planner, etc.). Students can redeem their points for different class privileges. Privileges I've used in the past were: bring a treat to class, switch seats, teacher lunch, sit wherever they want, bring a fluffy friend (small stuffed animal or small blanket), wear PJs to school, no shoes in class, tech time, teach a lesson (if they also have no missing work), and special chair for the day. I will add to the list with the class once school starts. Points can be redeemed whenever students have enough points.

Parents are able to connect to their child's account to see their points and why they earned/lost them. I will get information sent out after school has started.

I am not going to allow birthday treats to be brought this year. I have students with allergies, so it will be safer to say no. I do celebrate every single students' birthday! We do a small activity for their birthday and I give them a birthday treat. If your child's birthday is in the summer, we will celebrate their half birthday.
