Group 1

12 cookies for 2 people is how many cookies? 

12 total cookies divided by 2 friends is 6 cookies per one friend.

The division equation:  $12\div2=6$

The multiplication equation:  $2\times6=12$  because it is 2 groups of 6 cookies.

Group 2

4 people and 12 cookies.

12 total cookies divided by 4 friends is 3 cookies per one friend.

The division equation: $12\div4=3$

The multiplication equation: $4\times3=12$   because it is 4 groups of 3 cookies.

Group 3

6 people and 12 cookies.

12 total cookies divided by 6 friends is 2 cookies per one friend.

The division equation: $12\div6=2$

The multiplication equation: $6\times2=12$  because it is 6 groups of 2 cookies.

Group 4

12 people and 12 cookies.

12 total cookies divided by 12 friends is 1 cookies per one friend.

The division equation: $12\div12=1$

The multiplication equation: $12\times1=12$  because it is 12 groups of 1 cookie.
