Organizing an Opinion Essay 

🎯 Objective: I can introduce the topic I am writing about, state my opinion, and create an organizational structure that lists reasons.

Purpose: Good writers organize their paper effectively for readers to understand their opinion.

Student Instructions: 

Do you think schools should be year-round? 

1.  Create a graphic organizer on your blank piece of paper.

2.  Fill out a graphic organizer based on your opinion.  Your graphic organizer should have the following: 

- Topic sentence with topic and controlling idea

-  2 - 3 reasons that support your opinion

- Supporting details that help to explain your reasons

- Conclusion that restates topic and controlling idea

3.  Submit a picture of your completed graphic organizer.
