Human Settlement and Geography
This module includes information about map skills, natural features, and human settlement and geograhy. Students will have the opportunity to learn map skills and how to identify natural features on a map. They will use these skills to explore maps and identify how natural features affect human settlement. They will also have the opportunity to create a map for an imaginary country and a map that shows the population density for their imaginary country to show the relationships between human settlement and geography.
Resources and Technologies Used in This Module:
- Canvas - Students will utilize several Canvas features in this module. Students will submit typed work using the text entry option. They will be asked to take a picture of drawings and upload into Canvas. They will respond to prompts using Discussions. Students will also complete assignments using external tools including, PowerPoint and Word. To create a guardian account in Canvas, click here Links to an external site. and scroll down to "Help for Parents."
- Nearpod - This is a program that should be very familar to students. They will access the Nearpod presentation in the Canvas assignment. They will need to enter their first name and last initial when they log in to a presentation. This will let their teacher know they participated in the presentation and will allow their teacher to see their answers to quizzes and open-ended questions to check for student understanding of the material.
- Book Creator- Students will be asked to read a book created on bookcreator.com. A clickable link is provided.
- Websites - Students will be asked to visit Google Earth and National Geographic. A clickable link is provided.
- Quizlet - Publicly available study sets will be available to you on Quizlet. Students can access the flashcards and other activities individually.
