Description and Purpose:
Completion of this course will enable students to implement those decision-making skills they must apply and use to become wise and knowledgeable consumers, savers, investors, users of credit, money managers, citizens, and members of a global workforce and society. Students will study how to analyze influences on financial behavior, how to set and implement financial goals, analyze criteria for selecting a career and the impact of career choices on income and financial stability. Students will also explore the use of credit, consumer protection, insurance, investments, and retirement issues. Students will be opening online app accounts to experience how these tools may be used. This course provides students with a unique problem.
Objectives:
- Understand how values, culture, and economic forces affect personal financial priorities and goals.
- Understand sources of income and the relationship between career preparation and lifetime earning power.
- Evaluate saving methods and investment strategies.
- Understand principles of personal money management including budgeting, managing accounts, and the role of credit and impacts on personal finance.
