Grades

GRADES Grades will be updated at least weekly, and students and parents are encouraged to check myDSD frequently.

ASSESSMENTS (80% of your grade)

  • QUIZZES will be given on a weekly basis.  Students are eligible to retake quizzes IF ALL notes and practice assignments are complete and accurate (reworked if needed) with work shown. Quizzes will be scored on the following scale:

  • TESTSUnit and end of term tests will be scored by points earned, not using the scale above.
  • Unit tests will be given 1-2 times per term and can be reworked for additional points IF ALL practice assignments and unit notes are complete and accurate (reworked if needed) with work shown.
  • Term tests may be given at the end of each term and cannot be retaken or reworked.

WEEKLY FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS QUIZZES (10% of your grade)

  • Each week we will take a short quiz that will focus on math equivalency skills that students need to maintain. Quiz topics will focus on 4 areas: Simplify, Solve, Graph, and Evaluate. At the beginning of the school year we will focus on strengthening 6th grade content skills. We will then move on to building and maintaining our 7th grade skills. Retakes will NOT be offered on these quizzes, but the lowest 2 scores will be dropped when grades are calculated at the end of the term.

OTHER LEARNING & WORK EXPECTATIONS  (10% of your grade)

    • Practice Assignments - Students need opportunities to practice what we are learning to increase accuracy, fluency, and understanding. Without practice, students most likely will not be able to prove content mastery when assessed. Therefore, completing practice assignments is critical! Practice work will be given as paper assignments, activities and group work in class, and sometimes online learning platform assignments. Completing, reworking as needed, and turning in practice assignments ON TIME will count as part of the citizenship grade and will also allow for quiz retakes or reworking missed test problems for additional points.
    • Direct Instruction Notes – Whether students receive direct instruction in class or at home through videos on Canvas, they are responsible for taking notes to support their learning. To retake or rework assessments (quizzes & Unit Tests), students may be asked to show completed notes for the topic(s) being reassessed.

CITIZENSHIP - *Citizenship grades will be given each term and reflect your academic responsibility as well as your ability to meet class expectations. Your citizenship grade is a subjective assessment given as feedback on the impression you are showing.

*Students will automatically earn a U if they are caught cheating and/or show disrespect for a substitute teacher.
