DHS Choir Classes
Tenor/Bass Chorus (2309) - a 1st semester, non-auditioned TTBB class for singers with developing voices and/or limited musical experience. We learn the basics of vocal technique. music theory and performance skills. In 2nd semester this class combines with the Sop./Alto Ensemble to become Mixed Choir.
Sop./Alto Ensemble (2308) - a 1st semester, non-auditioned SSAA class for singers with developing voices and/or limited musical experience. We learn the basics of vocal technique. music theory and performance skills. In 2nd semester this class combines with Tenor/Bass Chorus to become Mixed Choir.
Mixed Choir (2307) - a 2nd semester, non-auditioned SATB class for singers with developing voices and/or limited musical experience. We learn the basics of vocal technique. music theory and performance skills
Bell Choir (2306) - a FULL YEAR, unique "no singing" choir! We are, by definition, a percussion ensemble ringing 5 octaves of handbells and handchimes. Music reading and hand-eye coordination is critical to this choir but previous experience with handbells or chimes is not necessary. Limited Edition (2313) - Advanced SSAA choir (FULL YEAR) for singers with a good handle on vocal technique and some experience with reading music and performance. This class requires an audition and is available for 10th - 12th grade Soprano's and Alto's.
A Cappella Choir (2310) - a FULL YEAR, Advanced SATB Large Choir for singers with a good handle on vocal technique and some experience with reading music and performance. This class requires an audition and is available for 11th and 12th grade students. **Sophomore tenors/basses who have successfully navigated the voice change process and have access to all registers of their voice may be added if needed to balance sections.**
Madrigals (2315)- a FULL YEAR, small SATB Chamber Choir for singers with advanced vocal technique, ear training, sight-reading and performance skills. This class is predominantly seniors who have participated in other choir classes (although that is not a requirement). Students in Madrigals have multiple performance opportunities throughout the year (concerts, festivals, elementary schools, etc.) Students in Madrigals are also required to include a 2nd FULL YEAR music/performance class in their schedule. Moonlight Singers (2225) - a second semester, select jazz ensemble for singers with great ear-training and swing style. Moonlight Singers need to be great ensemble singers as well as fantastic soloists as they are featured with the jazz band at Moonlight Serenade. We also perform additional music at concerts and festivals with a jazz combo or a cappella. Auditions for Moonlight Singers will be held just after the Thanksgiving Break.
