Instructions
Imagine you are a reviewer for a microcredential about writing across the disciplines. (Don't worry-you don't need to be an expert in this area to complete this activity!) One of the required pieces of evidence is a lesson plan following these guidelines:
| Submit a lesson plan that contains the following: (a) at least one learning goal or objective, (b) alignment with core standards, including one writing standard and one content area standard, (c) extension activities for advanced, struggling or English language learners, (d) a description of learning activities, and (e) a description of how student learning will be assessed. In a separate section of the lesson plan, include citations for research supporting your instructional approach. (See the resources section for examples to cite.) |
The criteria for this lesson plan are as follows:
Criterion 1: Evidence demonstrates that the educator incorporates writing lessons across other disciplines such as social studies, math, science, etc.
Criterion 2: Evidence demonstrates that the educator uses feedback and assessments to check for student understanding of a concept.
Criterion 3: Evidence demonstrates that the educator uses writing successfully as an instructional tool to teach content standards.
Two submitters have sent in lesson plans for review (see below). Look through the lesson plans and answer the questions in this quiz based on the evidence requirements and criteria.
