About Your Teacher

My name is Zackery Nesi and I will be your child’s 5^th Grade teacher this year. I have lived in Utah my whole life. I have lived in North Salt Lake for 29 years.  I love reading Sci-Fi books and anything about history.  I also love reading comic cooks.  I have been reading and collecting them since I was ten years old.  I love to play baseball and swim.  I love to cook and bake (especially sweet treats).  Spending time with my family is particularly important to me. I spend much of my time with my nieces and nephews. I have four cats, Scarlet, Rose, Dash and Willow that keep me company as well.  I am excited for the new school year and can’t wait to get to know my students and work to help them have a successful year. 

This year will be my 9^th year teaching and my fourth year here at Orchard Elementary and Davis District. I taught 6^th grade for 4 years in Murray district and 3^rd grade for a year in Canyons District. Before entering teaching, I worked as a Reading interventionist in the Salt Lake School District.  I also spent a few years working as a substitute in Davis District.

I graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s in History.  I entered teaching through the Alternate Routes to Licensure Program run by the Utah State Board of Education.  I completed my STEM Endorsement through the University of Utah. I am really excited about getting to use what I learned to make science exciting and engaging. This year, I will be working on my Social Studies endorsement and serving as the school's Social Studies lead and Canvas Collaborator.
