Informational Writing

Objective: 

• I can write an informative piece which examines a topic and convey ideas where I:
  • introduce a topic, organize ideas with appropriate structure, include formatting and graphics when useful
  • use facts, definitions, details and quotations or other examples to develop the topic
  • use appropriate transitions to clarify relationships among ideas
  • use precise language and vocabulary to explain about the topic
  • establish and maintain a formal style
  • provide a concluding statement or section

Today's Goal: Complete your rough draft

• Using the outline in your packet, complete your rough draft
• Make sure you have a good introduction and conclusion
  • remember, the introduction and conclusion are related
• For each subtopic you should have 3+ facts
  • for each fact, you need to elaborate! (remember, bratty teenager wants to know why it's important that you are telling them the facts)
