Reading Summer School

Hello Friends!  You've just finished up your third grade year!  How do you feel about your reading skills? How did you do on your Acadience reading End of Year Assessment?    If you, or let's be honest, your parents feel like you could use a little practice over the summer, I'll give you a few ideas! READING EVERY DAY will better prepare you for your 4th grade year, and you'll become your new teacher's favorite student!

Get a Jump Start on Reading the
Book Battle Books Download Book Battle Books for the 2024-2025 School Year

You can use these a few different ways.

#1 Use as a one-minute timed read.  Use your Third Grade Reading Record information to see where you should be.  Reread the same passage 3-4 times to see if your fluency improves.

#2 Read and reread for information.  Don't time yourself. Read out loud and work on your accuracy, fluency, and expression.  

#3 Use the passages as a topic for a "Hamburger Paragraph."  Use the link on this page for a structure template if you need one. 

Focus on the 300-900 word lists. You should be able to FLUENTLY READ and SPELL all of these words! sum.jpg
