Once the Egyptian Pharaohs realized that the pyramids could be easily robbed, Pharaohs started creating tombs in what came to be known as the Valley of the Kings. Here, the tombs and all their treasures could be hidden away in the mountains. Unfortunately, even these tombs were robbed. Only King Tut's was never plundered.
