Math 7 Information

Math 7 focuses on four main concepts:

  • Proportional Reasoning
  • Operations with Rational Numbers
  • Simplifying Expressions and Solving Equations
  • Representing and Analyzing Relationships

We will use a free-to-use, publicly available, online curriculum available through https://openupresources.org/ Links to an external site.

There are nine units, and the goal is to complete three units each of the first three terms, leaving fourth term for review, final testing, and preview of how seventh grade topics lead to eighth grade concepts.

Open-Up Resources has family materials that will describe the big ideas of the unit, as well as problems you can try with your student to see if they are understanding the general idea of the unit. Below is a rough pacing guide for each term along with a link to the family materials for that unit.

Term 1 - Proportional Reasoning

Term 2 - Operations with Rational Numbers/Simplifying Expressions and Solving Equations

Term 3 - Simplifying Expressions and Solving Equations/Representing and Analyzing Relationships

On your student's Canvas page they will find additional resources, activities and practice supplementing the lessons. Links to helpful videos can be found there.
