Teaching Philosophy
Philosophy of Education
I believe that educators find success when they remember that students are people with individual needs, wants, experiences, and goals. The role of the educator is to enable students to find happiness and success through the mastery of essential skills and knowledge. It should be important to the educator that each student learns. Interventions by the educator to prevent student failure should be sourced in genuine concern for the person. Successful teachers do not just cover content, instead they share their passion and personality in order to develop growth mindset, grit, and joy in their students.
I believe in purposefully integrating technology into proven teaching practices. I am a “Bold School” teacher, as outlined by Weston Kieshnick. I adore John Hattie’s Visible Learning and believe that his extensive research identifies the best practices for teachers. It is my goal to help my fellow teachers adopt meaningful innovations while maintaining successful practices and ensuring strong student-teacher relationships. I love teaching and can’t believe that I get paid to do this!
