Mrs. Smith's Elementary Schedule

Orchestra meets twice a week at each elementary school. Find your school's times below.

Centerville: Monday 8:40-9:30 & Thursday 7:40-8:30

Reading: Tuesday 8:40-9:30 & Friday 7:40-8:30

Stewart: Tuesday 7:40-8:30 & Friday 8:40-9:30

Taylor: Monday 7:40-8:30 & Thursday 8:40-9:30

Parent Meetings:

I am hosting a Parent Meetings at each of the elementary schools the week before orchestra starts. Each meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m. in the room where the orchestra meets. Here is the schedule:

Tuesday, September 8th- Stewart - On the stage

Wednesday, September 9th- Taylor- Music Portable

Thursday, September 10th - Centerville- Cafeteria

Friday, September 11th- Reading- Room TBA

Orchestra starts Monday the 14th and will continue according to the above schedule.

Recommended Local Instrument Retailers: When looking to rent an instrument ask, "How much of the rental fee goes towards purchase?" and "Is insurance included?" Some of the retailers can even set it up to have it delivered to your school. Violin and Viola Rental prices usually start in the $22-40, Cello rentals are usually $40-60 a month.

Please do not purchase instruments from Amazon or Ebay or big box retailers. Most of these instruments are very difficult to tune and play!

School Instuments:

I do have a few instruments available for each school, mostly cellos and basses. Most future violin and violists rent from a local retailer unless they really can't afford a rental. If you can afford to rent a cello, please do so, I always have more requests for cellos than I can fill so if you can rent one it will open up a cello for someone who can't afford a rental.

If you need to use a school instrument, please contact me ASAP at alee@dsdmail.net for availability. School instruments can be check out for free in 6th grade (again very limited number) and in junior high and high school there is a yearly rental fee of $80-125. Parents will need to come and check-out an instrument from me at Centerville Junior High. I will be available on September 9th from 3:00-5:30 p.m. You must contact me and confirm before you come to check out an instrument.
