Mathematicians can systematically use multiplication facts and division strategies to find factors.
This is a "T" chart.
The numbers that are directly across from each other on the t-chart are two factors that are multiplied together to produce the multiple, or the number being factored.
Next, is the number divisible by 2? Remember, only even numbers are divisible by 2. The number 2 is one factor, and the other factor would be half of the number being factored.
Now repeat what you just did for 2, with 3,4,5,etc.
The last numbers on the chart is 4 and 6. This creates a gap where you need to decide if there are missing factors.
Student Task: Make your own "T Chart" for the number 30. When you are done, you may recored yourself explaining your chart, take a picture of your work, or type the factors you found.
