Parent Information
Husky Highlight: | A fill in the blanks style poster will come home with your child at the beginning of the year. Please help your child complete this information and return it as soon as possible. I draw one at random each week to hang in our classroom. On Friday, the student whose poster is hanging up with share it with the class to help us get to know each student better. You don't need to do anything besides helping your child to complete it and return it to school.
Birthday Information: | Birthdays will be recognized during the last 15 minutes of the day. If you would like to bring a treat, please keep in mind that all treats must be store bought and/or packaged. Treats will be passed out at the end of the day. (treats are not required) If your child's birthday falls on a weekend or holiday we will assign a school day for them to celebrate it with the class. Summer birthdays will be celebrated on their half birthday. (For example: July 23rd birthday will be celebrated on January 23rd).
Volunteers | I love volunteers! There will be several volunteer opportunities throughout the year ranging from one time needs like class parties to weekly spots where you are with us regularly. The district requires all volunteers who work with students on a regular basis to have a background check (this doesn't apply to one time things like class parties). The background checks are done at the district offices in Farmington. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Classroom Management |
A respectful learning environment is crucial. We will follow the Hanna Holbrook positive behavior model:
Students are also expected to follow the ABC's:
In addition we will focus on some social/emotional lessons to help us create a classroom community where everyone is valued. Classroom behavior will be managed though as many positive means as possible. Discipline issues will be handled on an individual basis. |

Donations/Supplies/Wish List |
I provide all the supplies your student will need. I ask that they not bring individual supplies from home. If you would like to donate to our classroom though we always love donations. Please note that this is a "wish list". It is strictly voluntary. These items are in no way required from you or your child. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. Donations will be accepted ongoing throughout the year. Thank you!

Grading |
Davis School District utilizes standards based grading meaning we are grading on if your child has met or mastered each of the standards being taught. In elementary school grades on a report card are based on a rubric so your child will get a score between 1 - 3 depending on their level of mastery with each concept. The table below shows how the rubric grades are determined.
