Late Work Policy and Late Coupons

Sixth Grade Late Work Policy and Late Coupons

Target.pngAs sixth graders prepare to transition into Jr. High, it is important to learn to organize, pace, and be responsible for completing assignments on time and with quality effort.

      • All assignments should be completed with quality work & turned in on time to receive full credit.
      • Work is considered late if not turned in at the beginning of the school day that it is due.
      • If absent, the student will be allowed 3 days from the day of return to make-up any assignments missed during their absence. After three days, those assignments will be considered late (unless circumstances require more time).
      • Students will be given four “late coupons” to use EACH term.  A “late coupon” allows a student to turn in an assignment for full credit within 7 days of the original due date.  When late coupons are used up, partial credit is given.
      • If a student has any missing and/or incomplete work when special, extra-curricular activities are scheduled, he/she will forfeit the opportunity to participate and will be redirected to a “study hall” for assistance with work completion.

How to Use a Late Coupon –

      • “Late coupons” must be completely filled out and attached to the late assignment.
      • Only ONE assignment per coupon may be submitted.
      • “Late coupons” may NOT be used for long term projects, book reports, or teacher determined assignments.

NOTE:  A “late coupon” will be surrendered for any missing and/or incomplete assignments 7 days following the due date. If a student still has unused “late coupons” at the end of the term, they will have the opportunity to “cash-in” for prizes.

Students should be responsible for checking on missing assignments and current grades on a regular, weekly basis.  Using the myDSD account will be a very valuable tool for monitoring progress & status of assignments.
