Assessment Information

We take assessments

  • at the middle and end of each math chapter
  • weekly science
  • weekly reading comprehension
  • weekly daily math
  • weekly math review

All Assessments are done through Canvas....Let me explain:

I do this so that Canvas can correct the majority of the assessment.  The time I save in not hand grading every question (10-30+ questions) for every student (30+) I can use to prepare and plan awesome lessons that engage my students. As well as time working with small groups and working on areas that students might need extra help in. Or using that time in class to do "extra" activities like 3D printing, FlipGrid buddies, breakout games, etc. and it has reduced the amount of work I take home with me.

Don't get me wrong, I still check every assessment.

  • I check to see what questions they got wrong
  • Form small groups if many missed the same question (which I know instantly through canvas)
  • Reteach (if everyone bombed it)
  • Give credit if it was a typo
  • And hand grade essay type questions

This is much quicker if I'm only looking for the red/missed questions than hand grading.

All math assessments are given to them on paper so that they can write out and work through problems, once they finish on paper they then submit their answers on Canvas as well as submitting a picture of their work.

I do allow students to re-do a test, however they only get half credit for the questions they fix.

I'd rather them learn then just fail and forget it.
