Subjects

 Reading

Students are encouraged to read for 20 minutes every day. In class we will use McGraw-Hill and  Jr. Great Reading Books. On days when they are doing school at home, students will work in iReady Reading.

 Math

In math this year we will be using the Project E2 curriculum. We will  going on a number adventure with Imi and Zani, a toucan and a macaw, who work for the Amazon Birds Consulting (A.B.C.) Company in South America. They need help creating number games for students around the world. Through games and creativity, Imi and Zani help the students in speaking and writing in mathematical language as well as listening and learning from others ideas.

Students will also use iReady math at home.

 Spelling

Students will have a pretest at the beginning of the week, and bring home spelling words on Monday. Spelling tests will be on Friday.

Writing

Students will have a writing journal that they will use each day. I will give them a topic to write about. By the end of the year, they will be writing full sentences with correct capitalization and punctuation.
