Day 1 Instructions:
This week we will be reading the explanatory/informational text, Stargazing and the myth, Orion the Hunter. As you read, think of how the information helps you answer the Essential Question, How do you explain what you see in the sky? You will write a response to the Essential Question later in the week using details from Stargazing and Orion the Hunter.
Read Chapters 1 and 2 of Stargazing, "Ancient Views of the Skies," and "Sky Maps and Calendars." As you read, take notes using the Main Ideas and Details graphic organizer listed above -- use one organizer for each chapter. When considering the main idea, ask yourself, "What is this chapter mostly about?" Then choose important details from the chapter that support the main idea and add them to your organizer. Save these notes somewhere you can easily find them.
