Ferrari's Class Syllabus

      WELCOME To Mrs. Ferrari's Class!

I am pleased to have the opportunity to teach your student this year.  Throughout this school year your student and I will be working together in building a classroom community and achieving a beneficial and positive learning experience.  In doing this, I feel it is essential to have a cooperative effort between students, parents, and teacher.  Your input and cooperation will be greatly appreciated.  Your student will be expected to be an active participant in our community and take part in classroom discussions, reflections, and decisions. Students will be in control of their own actions and valued for what they contribute to the classroom community.  Everyone will be a responsible and contributing factor in ensuring a safe, positive learning establishment for all members where the highest possible learning can be achieved.  My expectations for conduct and standards for growth are high.  With your participation in and out of the classroom, we can look forward to a productive, creative, and fun year together.  I am very excited about this year and I hope to make it one of growth, discovery, and significance for your student.

  DISCLOSURE:

Throughout the year our class will be discussing issues of diversity and cultures around the world. We will be looking at the many peoples of the world and our society that makes us who we are.  With this, we will be discussing many traditions, beliefs, and experiences of many diverse peoples.  I hope to have your input and some of your own experiences shared with the class.  We will also be discussing issues of gangs, drugs, and decision making skills.  My plan is to use a lot of literature and student input to develop an awareness of what makes up the world we live in and what part we play in it. Students will work on a sense of community in the classroom and respect for others. Please feel free to contribute any ideas or concerns you may have at any time.  My goal is the success of your student in our classroom community along with becoming a positive and affective member of society. I feel it is crucial for students to gain an understanding of the diverse world we live in and gain a respect for all other living things, therefore, this concept will show through in all units and subject areas in our classroom.

I expect a lot from my students, but in return they can expect a lot from me; we are in this together.  I strive to maintain a productive and positive learning environment that prepares your student for higher level schooling as well as essential lifelong skills. I am very excited for this year and know together we can make it a success!  Please feel free to call me after 3:30 p.m. Monday- Thursday or after 1:30 p.m. on Fridays.

Sincerely,

Danielle Ferrari
