2nd grade with Mrs. Hess

Philosophy

All students can learn, and I am here to meet them where they are and help them to reach their potential. Students do best when clear expectations are established, and everyone is working to be a part of the team. Our rules are to be safe, kind and reliable.

Rules & expectations

  • Be Safe, Kind, and Reliable
  • This year we are going to be focusing on Social and Emotional Learning.
  • Students will be encouraged to do their best academically and behaviorally with praise, class points, and working towards goals.
  • Students will be accountable for their academics and behavior.
  • You may receive a phone call from your child telling you about their academics or behavior as they take ownership for their choices and continuously work to improve.

Students need to bring

  • Your child should bring their backpack, water bottle and homework folder every day.
  • Please check your child's backpack and clean it out often.

Homework

  • Students will have assignments that they will bring home in a folder.
  • Please check your child’s work to ensure it is complete and correct then initial it. If your child does not understand something, write a note on the homework to let me know and initial it.
  • Students are awarded tickets for being responsible with their homework.
  • Homework should take about 30 minutes including 20 minutes of reading.
  • I do not do Vacation Packets; however, you may access the online curriculum through my website under the Learn icon. Any missed paperwork will be available when your child returns to school.

Remote Learning

Your child will login to Canvas using their username and password from their homework folder. Click on the Remote Learning button from the homepage. There are instructions for online work that your child should do.

Sick Days

If your child is able to work online, follow the Remote Learning Instructions. Also, when your child returns back to school, they will have all of the papers that we did in class. Do your best to do the work at home and return to school.
