We will be using a variety of reading materials and activities to improve fluency, comprehension, and written response.

Novel Studies:
- Sideways Stories from Wayside School
- Finding the Titanic
- Little House on the Prairie
Super Star Readers:
- Classroom independent reading rewards program.
- Students earn points for book reports.
- Accumulated points are used for prizes.
At-Home Reading:
- Students will be expected to read a minimum of 20 minutes per school day (M-Th).
- Part of this time should be used to read aloud to practice fluency.
- Book reports can be done on books read from home, beginning in September.
Math
We will be drawing upon past experiences while adding in new strategies to explore and expand mathematical learning.

Our new curriculum is fun and exciting! We will be learning about how many things work around us. Each unit will be taught by one of our 4th grade teachers.

Social Studies
We get to learn all about Utah this year! We will discover the physical geography, the history of people and events, and the roles of civic life and government. Each unit is taught by one of our 4th grade teachers.

- Standard 1: Relationships between Utah's geography and human life by Mrs. Roper.
- Standard 2: Utah's history shaped by diverse people, events, and ideas by Miss Wilson.
- Standard 3: Roles of civic life, politics, and government of Utah citizens by Mrs. Roper.
