Parent Resources

Welcome to Second Grade

With Mrs. Bradford

I am pleased to be teaching your child and look forward to a wonderful year. I will focus on providing a safe environment for each student in our class so appropriate learning may take place. As a class, we will work to form a community based on kindness and respect. I realize every student is a unique individual and will approach teaching with this in mind. We will work together as a class to establish a life-long love of learning.

Classroom Management: I approach classroom management from a positive, proactive direction. Our class will follow a daily routine and students will be expected to follow the procedures which will be discussed and practiced in our classroom daily.  Kindness and respect will be our focus.

Star Student of the Week: Each student will have the opportunity to be our Star Student for the week.  I will send home information prior to your child’s week.

Recess: All children are expected to go outside during recess so please ensure your child dresses appropriately. If the weather is extreme, an indoor recess will be called.

Homework: A homework folder will be sent home every night, reinforcing the concept taught that day. The homework should be returned the following day for a ticket. Students should be reading daily as well.

Grading:  Each student will be evaluated on mastery of skills through the district-wide grading system based on the school district DESK standards.

Absences: Absences should be kept to a minimum and please make sure your child arrives at school on time. Students line up at the south-east corner of the building and will come inside when the first bell rings at 8:50 a.m. If your child is not able to come to school, please call the school attendance line by 9:15 a.m. at 801-402-3356.

Contact Information: Good communication between home and school is essential. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child.  I check my email often and you may text me using the Remind app.  Also, check out the school website at www.davis.k12.ut.us/131.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year!
