Don't forget to bring an outside reading book next class!

Why is reading important? Read this! Links to an external site. If you don't consider yourself to be "a reader," this is the year to begin! Let's start by finding a book/genre/author you love!

Find a book to read this term.

HONORS DESIGNATION ONLY: Choose a book from this list of classics Links to an external site.. Be sure to select a classic that you have NOT read and check that it's not a simplified version. Stick to the original!

ALL OTHER STUDENTS: If you are NOT working on the honors designation, you can choose any genre that is fiction (science fiction, mystery, realistic fiction, etc.). Here is the checklist to make sure your book will be approved:

  • Close to your reading level. Google the reading level of your book! Quick tip: Read two random pages. It's about the right reading level if there are 3-5 words you're unfamiliar with.
  • A book you have NOT read
  • Sounds interesting to you!

Here is the book project to complete while you are reading: 1st Term Written Book Project. (I have paper copies in my room to fill out as you read.) This will be due on October 5-8. Links to an external site.
