Definition of ML student

When a student enrolls in Davis School District, the parent answers four questions (listed below) on the registration form. If any of the responses are a language other than English, the student is considered a Multilingual Learner (ML) and they are given a WIDA English test to assess their language proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. If the student scores below a 5.0 Bridging, then they are considered English Language Learner (ELL) and is placed into ESL services.
