Reading Extended Metaphors
When a writer’s metaphor continues for more than one sentence of a story or more than one line of a poem, it is called an extended metaphor. Carl Sandburg’s poem 📕Fog uses an extended metaphor to compare the fog to a cat. Using the poem as a reference, complete the following chart to show the different parts of Sandburg’s extended metaphor.
