Class Schedule
Mrs. Carling's First Grade
Students arrive at school at 8:55am. They will enter through the front Northeast doors. Students will line up on the red dots on the east side of the building. Students will come directly into class and hang up their backpack. They will wash their hands and read an assigned book until all the students arrive.
School will be dismissed at 3:30pm. The First Graders will exit through the back West doors. Students will be dismissed at 1:30pm on Fridays.

Weekly Lessons
Students will be learning the same academic content whether at home or at school. If your student is on vacation or sick they can access their lessons on Canvas.
Spelling
We will be using a phonics based spelling program this year. Students will be using the phonics pattern taught in Reading lessons. Students will master this phonics skill through reading, writing and spelling. Assessments will be given each Friday.

Reading Homework
Students should read 10 minutes each night in First Grade. Research has shown that students who read at home are more successful in achieving reading fluency and success in school. Your support at home is the best gift you can give your new reader. The only way to achieve success in reading is to READ.
