Practice: Energy in the Cycle: ISC7.T2.M1.03

Objective

I can develop a model of the rock cycle to describe the relationship between energy flow and matter cycling that create igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks.

 Task

Remember how we learned about force?  Remember that energy is all around us?  Energy is in the rock cycle too. It is a balance between energy being stored up and ready to be used and that energy being released.

Instructions:

1. Read the summary about energy cycling in the rock cycle in the assignment Links to an external site. and highlight any time you see the words “energy released” and “energy stored”.
2. Using the summary and the picture as a guide to create a NEW model of the rock cycle and placing words “energy stored” or “energy released” instead of the process names. You may use the "Draw" option in the assignment document, make it with another program, draw a picture on a piece of paper, take a picture of it, and insert it into the document.
3. Form a concluding explanation on the role energy plays in the rock cycle.
4. Once completed, upload and click submit.
