- Points 100
- Submitting a text entry box, a media recording, or a file upload
- Available after Nov 21, 2024 at 12am
Objective
You are demonstrating mastery through a one-to-one conversation with an educator, in place of a traditional written assessment.
Task
You have the opportunity to discuss the topics you recently studied through a LIVE conversation with your teacher in a Discussion Based Assessment (DBA). These will take place in OC courses once per term. This is a great opportunity for your teacher to hear what you think about the content you have learned throughout the course! While there may be great sources of additional information on the internet, the focus of your DBA is all about your ideas. During a DBA, the teacher will engage you in a discussion, in which you will verbally express your current learning and understanding of the course material and DESK Standards.
Instructions
- Set up the DBA with your teacher. Using the BOOKINGS LINK Links to an external site., schedule a DBA SESSION to discuss topics you have learned in Term 2. If you are unable to attend a previously scheduled meeting time, please contact your teacher to reschedule. Your teacher may also contact you or a parent/guardian to complete the Discussion Based Assessment.
- Be sure to review your notes, quizzes, assignments, and lessons before your Discussion Based Assessment. Look through the module/recent work and decide what topics were most important. Make notes or study guides to highlight major themes of each module/unit to use during the DBA. Notes should be a guide, not a script.
- Attend the virtual meeting scheduled through BOOKINGS Links to an external site.. This is a time to connect with your teacher and share about your learning and understanding. Relax and have fun!
- After attending the meeting, submit your answers to these two questions in the text box.
-
- What date did you complete your Discussion Based Assessment?
- What did you talk about in your Discussion Based Assessment?
-
- Once you have submitted your responses to the above questions, your teacher will grade the assessment.
