Driving Question: How do I properly focus my shots?

If you would like additional information/a tutorial on how to work with our cameras, check out the following video:

Play around with the different auto-focus settings on your phone. Some phones have a manual focus setting. You can check and see when you go to your camera. On my phone for instance, when I am in the camera, I can click on "More" then "Pro" or "Pro Video" to see more settings for exposure and focus. You can play with the focus and see what your phone can do. If you have a nice camera at home, you can also play with the focus settings. Try the following:

The Requirements:

After playing around with the different auto-focus settings and manual focus settings, use the different focus settings to film the following shots (see video at bottom for an example):

  • Submit a video using autofocus (your normal camera settings on your phone, focus on something in front of the lens, then move an object in front of the lens, then remove it. Do this repeatedly in a single shot.

Extra Credit: (4 extra credit points)

Capture one of the following shots using pro settings on your phone or camera:

  • Using manual focus, start with the shot out of focus, then focus on something close to the lens.
  • Using manual focus, start with the shot out of focus, then focus on something far away from the lens
  • Using manual focus, adjust the focus during the shot from something close to the lens to something away from the lens. DO NOT MOVE THE CAMERA.

Here is an example video of what the different shots should do:
