MOVIE OR WEBSITE?

If you are making a movie, remember you must write a script and use both video and audio to engage and communicate ideas to the audience. If you are making a website, you must write original material that informs the readers using a variety of hyperlinks throughout.

Requirements:
1. The website or video must include important information about the disability or disease.

  • What are the symptoms? Give specific examples.
  • Who has it? Facts & statistics.
  • What treatments (if any) are available?

2. You must include your creative project or simulation.

  • Include video, artifacts, or pictures from the execution of the creative project or simulation.

3. You must include a call to action for the audience.

  • What stigmas do you wish to eradicate with this campaign?
  • In what ways can people become more sensitive and empathetic towards people with this disability/disease?

4. Finally, you must include reflections from all group members.

  • These can be written blogs (website only) or video (either format).
  • Each reflection must describe how your thinking has changed over the course of this project.
  • What have you learned? What prejudices did you have before? How has your outlook changed?

Steps for executing final product
1. Storyboarding and planning

  • Whether you are creating a website or a movie, you must plan what it looks like. You need to create a storyboard that includes links, videos, music, images, interviews, information, and reflections.
  • Once this is complete, you must meet as a group with the teacher to discuss ideas and so that she can help you get started.

2. Break up responsibility

  • Keep a log of who is supposed to do what and by when.
  • Each member should be in charge of a specific area.
  • Come to teacher if a group member is not fulfilling his/her duties

3. Write reflections

  • Whether these are blogs or videos, they need to be written ahead of time. They need to be short, thoughtful, and free of errors.

4. Review and edit final project

  • Is the website and video free from errors?
  • Is its design easily understandable and polished?
  • Are all the requirements met?

5. Publish final product

  • Submit link to website or youtube video to discussions on class Canvas page.

6. Browse and Comment on fellow classmates work

  • You must each comment on 2 groups projects. Keep in mind the rules of commenting etiquette when discussing others' work.
