1.  Exporting Content is easier to peers and other courses (Have you checked out the commons? Still in Beta)

2.  Finding files is much easier when linking to a Canvas Page or assignment. Time Saver!

3.  When updating a file, it is easy to find and delete the old version.

4.  When your curriculum changes (notice I said when and not if your curriculum changes?) organization makes it easy to get rid of the old!

1.  Folders should match your modules, usually by units!  Sub-folders may be added by concept, pages, quizzes, etc. based on persons personal perfectionists personality traits. 

2.  If you are teaching a subject in sequential order, number the folders to correspond with your units.  Canvas will alphabetize your folders.  

     Example:  1. Causes of the American Revolution/ 2. American Revolution/ 3.  Constitution  

3.  Be careful of large folder structures.  Example Folder within a folder, within a folder, etc.

4.  Be consistent and precise with the naming of documents

5.  When you update a file put 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 especially if you plan to keep the original.  

6.  Back-up your documents!

Tips When using Canvas Files:  

 

1.  Once you create a folder and name it click "Return/Enter" to Save the folder

2.  You can drag files from the right plane ONLY to another folder.  You can drag anything from the right plane to the left or right plane.

3.  Adding a lot of files is super easy, some browsers allow users to drop and drag files from their computer to the web browser.
