Technology plays an important role in the development of all the sciences. As technology improves, so do our questions about how the world around us works. Better questions lead to deeper understanding. Technological tools open up new worlds for us to explore.
The development of the Big Bang Theory involved many different scientists using many different types of technology. We have studied some of them, but there are lots more to discover.
For this assignment, you will be doing research and report the role technology has played in the development of the Big Bang. Find an example of how technology has helped influence the Big Bang Theory's development. Describe what the technology is, what it does, what data it collects, what new things we learned from the data.
You should also include links that list the sources for your information. I won't require you to use a specific format, just list each of your three technologies with the websites you used as sources.
Be thorough and use proper grammar and spelling. (Most word processing software contains tools to help you with that -- use them.)
Do not copy and paste from your sources! Write the whole paper in your own words. I realize you need to use outside sources to find the information, but once you have read it, close the source before writing your paper. If you need to "look at the source" to know "how to phrase it," you are cheating. A general rule of thumb: If you have more than 3 words in a row exactly the same as your source it is probably not in your own words. Using someone else's words is called plagiarizing. If you plagiarize, you get no credit for the whole assignment. No exceptions.
Any search engine can help you find sources. Remember to use the actual web site address in your citations page, never the search engine. You may also use Wikipedia as a starting point, but it shouldn't be your only source of information. Good Wikipedia articles always contain links to the original source of their information. They usually are small, blue numbers at the end of sentences. Click those to go to the original source, instead.
When your paper is finished, you may submit the file online. Reread it one more time before you submit.
The rubric you will be graded by is attached below.
