ESCI C.S3.O2.A5 Weather Fronts
- Due No Due Date
- Points 12
- Submitting a text entry box or a file upload
In the US much of our weather happens because of fronts. A weather front is a line separating two air masses of different temperatures. When one air mass moves towards another it creates a front, lifts air, causing cloud formation and often times precipitation. Click on the link below to see each front in action. Fronts are always associated with LOW pressure.
Front Types Links to an external site.
Each front type is shown by a specific symbol on a weather map, a blue line with triangles for a cold front, a red line with half circles for a warm front, mixed for stationary and a purple, mixed for occluded.
Your Assignment: In the text box describe each front, how it forms and the weather associated with it.
- Cold Front
- Warm Front
