2-3 story discussion on Magical Realism

We started this discussion about Magical Realism as a genre with "The Shawl," and then we read "The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World," "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings," and finally, "Two Words."

What do you think of this as a genre? What do you like best and least? In what ways might you use it in your own writing, or not?
