Week 6: Overview and To-Do List

Overview

Review for the Ecology Test

This week we are reviewing material we have learned so far in preparation for the test.

Objectives

Students will be able to carry out an investigation to analyze and interpret data to determine how biotic and abiotic factors can affect the stability and change of a population.

Students will be able to explain the factors that influence the growth of a population and how that relates to carrying capacity.

Students will be able to identify trophic levels and the organisms that belong to that level.

Students will be able to communicate the amount of energy transferred between organisms using the scientific terms for each type of eater (herbivore, carnivore, etc.)

DCI

1.1 Analyze and Interpret data to determine how biotic and abiotic factors can affect the stability and change of a population.

1.2 Use a model to explain the flow of energy among organisms in an ecosystem.

1.3 Develop an argument from evidence for how ecosystems maintain relatively consistent numbers and types of organisms in stable conditions.
