Welcome to sixth grade!  I hope you are ready for a fantastic year.

I enjoyed meeting you at back-to-school night.  If you weren't able to attend, your student has brought home a green information sheet for parents.  This information really helps me as a teacher best meet your student's needs.  Feel free to send the form back to school in a sealed envelope if needed.

Weekly Newsletters

This is the first newsletter of the year.  Watch for an email each Monday with the newsletter link.  The newsletters contain information about what we are learningimportant announcements, upcoming activities, details about assignments, upcoming tests, etc.  The weekly newsletters can also be found on my classroom website which you can access through the Bountiful Elementary website.  Just look for me under “Faculty and Staff” and then click on “Jeni Hall.”   The link to my Canvas public page is under my name.  You can find old newsletters if you need to reference something by going to "Modules" on the Canvas page.

What We Will Be Learning This Week

The first week of school is an important time to learn the rules and procedures of a new classroom.  We will also be spending a lot of time getting to know each other and building our team spirit!   We will also jump right into our new math curriculum with our first geometry lesson.

Student Supplies

Please see the link in the email for a list of suggested student supplies.

Math Volunteers

Do you like math?  Are you comfortable with sixth grade math concepts?  I am looking for some math helpers from 9:45-10:30.  You would be tutoring 1:1 or helping during rotations by running a math game or activity.  You could volunteer weekly or montly.  Please let me know if you would like to volunteer.

Sixth Grade Monetary Donations

Bountiful Elementary is doing something new this year.  Parents have the opportunity to donate directly to grade levels.  In sixth grade, this money will be used for our field trips (bus fees and popcorn/drink at the IMAX theater) and special events like our Halloween Party, Greek Olympics, Medieval Feast, and sixth-grade play.  If you would like to donate, please see the link below.

Classroom Computers

Students will have some digital homework assignments this year.  Please go online to myDSD and sign the permission forms if you would like your student to check out a school computer.  I cannot check out a computer to a student until those forms are signed.  I HIGHLY SUGGEST you purchase a protective case for the computer since they will need to be bring it back to forth to school.  The computers are 12 in by 8 in.  Here is a link to a fairly affordable option that comes in lots of different colors:

Students will be leaving their charging cords at school. but their computers should have plenty of battery left to complete homework assignments.  Computers will be left at school over the weekend.
