Mrs. Hall's Happenings
What We’re Learning This Week
This week in language arts we’ll be reading a lot of different articles about chocolate. We finished The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe last week. Packets are due on Wednesday. Tuesday's night homework is to have a parent/guardian review the packet. Instructions will come home on Tuesday night. Basically, all answers should be written in complete sentences, all pictures should be colored, and the character sketch writing should mostly fill the page. A parent/guardian signature on the front of the packet is worth 10 points. Students need to turn in a completed packet in order to watch the movie next week.
In math we’ll be finishing up division of fractions. Our unit test will be on Wednesday. A review will come home on Monday night for homework.
Last week we finished up our heat energy and matter unit with flying our tissue-paper hot air balloons. That was a lot of fun and a great activity to build teammwork skills. Our new science unit is on weather. This week we'll learn about the water cycle and next week students will create stop-motion videos about the water cycle.
And in social studies, we will continue to learn about five world religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism.
Ballet Field Trip
Our field trip to see The Nutcracker is next Tuesday. We ask that students wear "best dress" to the ballet. They are welcome to bring a change of clothes for the afternoon. We will return around lunchtime.
Cookie Concert
Then on Thursday next week we will be traveling by bus to Millcreek Junior High for the band/orchestra "Christmas Cookie Concert" for sixth grade students, We will be gone from about 9:00-10:15.
Holiday Party
We will be watching The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe movie and having a class breakfast on Friday, December 20. If you would like to donate food for our party, please see the sign-up genius link in the email. Students may wear pajamas and bring a blanket and pillow.
