Andrew Stewart - CE Spanish Teacher - WXHS
Name: Andrew Stewart
Mini Biography: I was born in northern California and raised all over the pacific northwest and Utah. I began my language learning journey as a missionary in Paraguay, then continued to develop my Spanish at Utah State University. I earned a Master's in Spanish at the University of Oregon where I also began learning Portuguese. I have returned to Paraguay a couple of times to learn Guarani Links to an external site. and researched Spanish-Guarani code-switching at the University of North Carolina. My teaching career spans 15 years and multiple age groups. I began teaching in higher education, and later made the jump from teaching young adults to teenagers at St. John's, and independent private school in Houston, Texas. This is my fifth year at Woods Cross High School and in public education. I am married to a wonderful Filipina and together we have six kids between the ages of 16 and 11. My oldest is currently a senior here at WX High School. Our home is a fun mix of English, Spanish, and Tagalog and good food. I enjoy music, drumming, science fiction, baseball, and hiking.
