Short biography:
Hi! I am Lindsey Roecker, you may call me Ms. Roecker. I am so excited to have you in my class this year weather you are a peer tutor or a part of the ASC program! I have 4 aides this year. I have been teaching at Fairfield for 6 years and been a special educator for 13 years!
Expectations:
Peer tutors: Your job is to be an appropriate social and academic roll model to the students in the ASC program. You will help students both inside and outside of the special education setting. Be a positive and powerful influence!
ASC program: Follow directions, keep hands to self, be respectful, complete your work, accept the decision, BE READY TO LEARN!
Classroom behavior system: We will have daily point trackers where you can earn classroom money to spend on items or activities during your positive reinforcement time. These trackers will be on the computer so I can see your progress throughout the year. If during the week you have had 4 or more “good days” (percentage varies per student needs) during the week, then you can participate in our Friday activity. This may include: Read-a-thon, bored game day, Kahoot!, Jeopardy, the Wii-U, etc. The very last Friday of each month we will be doing a classroom store where you can purchase items with the money you have earned for you to keep.
Assignments: All peer tutor assignments will be posted on canvas. Each week you will be required to read, watch a video, or participate in a discussion on a topic that has to do with being a peer tutor. All assignments are due on FRIDAYS, unless other wise stated. ASC program students will have no homework from their classes with me. We will have a homework period on A days called “Applied Skills” to help students work on their assignments from “out” classes. They may need to do some homework at home.
Grading
peer tutors: 1/3 of your peer tutor grade will be from the assignment classes. 1/3 from participation and 1/3 for attendance. All papers will be graded with the rubric system. All rubrics are posted with the assignments on canvas.
ASC Program:
