Welcome!
Hello, my name is Marilee Hansen. I am your teacher for Applied Language Arts. Just a little of information about me. I've been teaching for 10 years. I teach Applied Language Arts 7, Applied Writing Lab 7-8 and Applied reading 7-9. I come from a long line of educators. My grandparents were teachers, my parents were teachers and two of my brothers work in education. I am a fan of Harry Potter and anything Disney. I love reading, music and going to the movies. Also, I have a 13-year-old daughter so we love anything Lego, Animal Crossing or Minecraft. We enjoy spending time outdoors with our pets. We have two dog, four cats and sixteen chickens.
This year you will be learning how to research topics, revise/edit your writing, improving your vocabulary and reading several fun and interesting novels/short stories. Everything on this Canvas page is accessible at school and at home. Students will be taught using blended learning model through in class instruction as well as access to Utah Compose, Quizlet, Quill, and online videos provided by the teacher.
When exploring the course, please go to announcements for any updates or changes. All assignments and quizzes will be accessed from the Modules tab. All assignments due dates will be the end of the term. Please have your assignments completed in a timely manner so that you don't get overwhelmed. If an assignment is not completed on the day it was given, a missing will be placed on the grade to show it wasn't completed. Please send any questions or concerns to me at marihansen@dsdmail.net.
