My name is Mr. Macías and I've been teaching for 15 years and I've called Sunset Junior High home for the last 5.

• In my Spanish classes we talk A LOT in Spanish so please be ready to participate and have a great time learning about another language and culture.
• In my L.I.A. class we will work on leadership skills and have the opportunity to tutor elementary kids and plan fun, engaging activties to showcase our leadership skills.

• Wordreference.com Links to an external site. is an excellent website to look up words in English and Spanish. Often it also provides forum explanations as to why a word is used and demonstrates the diversity of the Spanish language.
• Studyspanish.com Links to an external site. is a website that has some explanations about verbs and their conjugations and it also allows students to practice conjugating verbs. There is an option to set up a login, but you can have almost complete access to the website without joining anything.
• Duolingo Links to an external site. is a program that has an app for smartphones (and can also be used on a computer). This program gives students the ability to practice and learn new vocabulary and word associations.
• Quizlet Links to an external site. is an online program and app that allows students to quiz themselves on vocabulary and verbs that are used in class. The class verb card and vocabulary are accessible by searching SrMacias on the home page. Additionally vocabulary lists are available from other teachers and are editable for students to adjust to their needs.

1. What is the fastest way to contact you?

Email is the fastest way to reach me. When emailing remember to include your name (if a student) or your student's name (if a parent/guardian).

2. Where are the most up-to-date grades?

Canvas is always the most up-to-date and is updated daily. Mydsd is only updated on Fridays.

3. Where can I find out what was done in class?

On Canvas Calendar there is a summary of what we did each day with links to the different assignments. Instructions for the assignments and the necessary handouts are all available in Modules.

4. Do you use Canvas often?

Yes. All work is submitted in Canvas and any handouts, corrections and announcements are made in Canvas. Please check it daily.
