Welcome to 3rd Grade where Our Class is a Family!

I am Wendy Cowan. I love learning! I love to discover new things and increase my own knowledge. I hope to transfer that love of learning to my students. My goal for students is to instill a love and desire for learning that will entice them to want more. I seek for opportunities to engage students in the curriculum and create a lasting experience. As a classroom facilitator, I believe in positive reinforcement and finding the strengths in each of us. It is my belief that if a child feels loved and respected, they will put forth their best effort to achieve greatness. I believe in creating a safe place for students to make mistakes and learn from failure as they work toward mastery. I encourage students to track their own progress, celebrate their success and identify their own goals to create a plan for achievement. Through differentiated learning with small groups and interventions, I strive to meet each student’s learning needs. I am so excited about the opportunity to facilitate learning in our 3rd grade classroom!

About Mrs. Cowan

I grew up in Lehi, Utah where I graduated from Lehi High School. I attended Dixie College and Utah State University. I graduated in Elementary Education in 1994. Teaching has been a large part of my life and has greatly influenced the path my life has taken. I have been teaching in some capacity for over 25 years including: Preschool, Kindergarten, 1^st grade, 5^th grade and private tutoring. I’ve taught at Burton Elementary, Orchard Elementary, Quest Academy, and Woods Cross Elementary. I began teaching at Valley View as a 3^rd grade teacher in 2021; and it’s my absolute favorite!

I have two amazing children who are now adults, that are very involved in my day-to-day life. My late husband and I raised our family in Woods Cross, where I currently reside. I love the sunshine and my favorite place to be is the ocean; any ocean! We frequently spend time vacationing on the California beaches. I love the outdoors, reading, watching movies and spending time with my family and friends.
