Library Media Skills
Welcome!
Course Description
Welcome to Library Media Skills. This class gives self-motivated students time to complete assignments, collaborate, and/or conduct research in the best room in the school. This is a working class, and students must spend the majority of their time studying and working on assigned coursework from their other classes.
I want to play a positive role in your education. Please ask me about using library materials, locating information, adding resources that can help you, and anything else that will lead to your academic success. Library Media Skills is offered on a Pass/Fail basis, and comes with citizenship credit.
Acceptable activities during class include, but are not limited to, completing homework assignments, reading/annotating for class, researching, writing papers, collaborating responsibly with fellow classmates, taking content assessments, and engaging in enrichment learning. Additional study rooms are available by appointment for rehearsals/practices, collaborative discussions, or an extra quiet learning space. If you have no assignments, come see me. I can certainly use some help!
Occasionally, I get the chance to teach in other classrooms. During these times, I expect your behavior to be just as excellent while I am away as it is while I’m in the library. Conversely, students will sometimes visit the library for instruction/book checkouts. I need you to be on your best behavior during these times as well. Check in with me as soon as you get to the library for attendance. Once here, I expect you to stay in the library until the bell rings unless you are on a study break (trip to the restroom or vending machine with time kept to under ten minutes), working in another teacher’s classroom (I should be notified of this before class through e-mail/personal talk with the teacher and student must check in with me at the start of class), or checking out of school. —While on our hybrid school schedule, students should study on their assigned day in the library and also study at home on remote days. Grading may have to be adjusted if classes revert to distance learning.
Class Rules
- Respect teachers, other students, yourself, the library and library materials

Citizenship
I would love to give every student in LMS an H. To earn an H, students should demonstrate appropriate academic behaviors, follow the Classtitution, and pass all of their classes.
I follow FHS and DSD policies regarding student conduct and citizenship. Excessive tardies and/or absences may result in a U. Davis School District is committed to providing educational and employment opportunities to students without regards to race, color, sex, religion, age, national origin or disability in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title XI of the Education Amendment of 1972, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Students must earn a 60% or above to receive a passing grade. Students may be removed from the course for truancies, excessive absences, and/or showing a lack of effort.
